Barstool Sports
Revamping Notifications in the Barstool Sports iOS App
Role: Senior UX / UI Designer
Problem: The existing notifications experience lacked polish, feels cumbersome, and falls short of adhering to contemporary iOS Human Interface Guidelines.
Key Insights
Notifications should be seamlessly integrated into the user experience, spanning from onboarding to daily interactions.
Well-executed notifications have the potential to significantly boost user engagement with your application.
Once notifications become intrusive for users, the trust in your app diminishes.
Solutions
Designed a fresh notifications onboarding experience that seamlessly aligns with the existing onboarding process.
Incorporated unobtrusive UI elements to showcase the value of notifications, encouraging users to re-engage with them.
Developed an intuitive notification management interface for users to easily customize their notification preferences within the app.
The Kroger Co.
Building Trust with User-Centric Feedback Loops
Role: Product Designer
Problem: Support Associates found Kroger's internal support ticketing software frustrating, and their feedback went unaddressed.
How I Addressed It: Implemented a monthly research plan involving 5-10 user interviews per week to collect and apply feedback for solutions.
Key Takeaways & Work
Support Associates previously felt that their feedback to managers was ineffective, resulting in no improvements to their working conditions.
I introduced a feedback loop framework to guide our research efforts. This feedback loop involved users providing feedback, us taking action or acknowledging their input, and then repeating the process.
The results were significant. Over the next two months, Support Associates began to feel heard and actively engaged, providing more feedback than ever before. They became integral to the process, recognizing the importance of their input, given their direct interaction with the software.
With this framework in place and feedback flowing more effectively, we aimed to address the core issues in the support ticketing software.
Around the same time, I accepted a new role in New York City, so I transitioned out of my position. Nonetheless, I take pride in our efforts to empower Support Associates and give them a voice.
